In the build-up to RBTE 2015, Essential Retail will be shining the spotlight on some of its exhibitors. Today, it's IT services and retail consultancy PMC. Published: 09:48:00 on the 26th Feb 2015

IT services and retail consultancy PMC. is returning to RBTE this year, and it will be showcasing its range of products at the two-day event at London Olympia between 10-11 March 2015.

Essential Retail caught up with Huw Thomas, managing director at PMC, to find out more about the company and its plans for the spring show.

Why have you booked for RBTE 2015?

PMC booked for RBTE 2015 as last year we saw a return of some of the vibrancy that has been missing from UK retail technology expos for a number of years. RBTE is doing a great job of bringing together a good combination of retailers, IT folk and vendors. Last year’s show was a great success and we are hoping for the same again this year.

What new technology will you be displaying at RBTE 2015, and why is it relevant?

We firmly believe that the future for many retailers lies in enabling much more capability in-store from the enterprise. This will bring many benefits, including simplified systems landscapes, simplified integration, lower costs and a more unified omnichannel customer experience.

We also believe the future is going to be mobile – putting mobile technology in the hands of store staff to work with the customer on building a transaction rather than simply handling payment.

We have backed our judgement by developing Store Enabler, which we will be showcasing at RBTE 2015. It allows retailers to capitalise on the investment they have already made in eCommerce or web-based systems and use them to deliver a Mobile PoS solution in-store. Store Enabler has the flexibility to be deployed on any size android or iOS device. It gives retailers the ability to scan, take secure payments and print using a wide variety of industry leading hardware and payment solutions. Integration to the eCommerce or other enterprise platform is surprisingly straightforward.

We have recently added the ability to take cash payments using Store Enabler and created a cloud-based cash management solution. We look forward to demonstrating how to drive a cash drawer from a website.

Name some of the retailers that you are currently working alongside

Our three early adopters will be going live in the next couple of months and we will announce them once they are deployed. All three of them see mobile technology in the hands of their staff as critical to the customer experience they are striving to deliver. Critically, they also want to leverage their enterprise capabilities in-store.

Which types of retailer and which job functions are you hoping to meet with at RBTE 2015, and why?

We are hoping to meet with department store, fashion and speciality retailers as well as those retailers that have a requirement for pop-up shops or facilities for events. We would love to show Store Enabler to business leaders in the retail operations or eCommerce arena or their IT counterparts.

Visitors to RBTE 2015 can meet with PMC at Stand 728.
