PMC India presents Software to Akshar Trust

Abingdon, Oxfordshire, UK - -Retail systems specialist PMC Limited has today announced that it's India-based offshore development subsidiary, PMC India (PMC-I), has donated a Student Management Software (SMS) system to the Akshar Trust for hearing-impaired children in Vadodara, India. The system has been developed by PMCI’s software engineers specifically for the Akshar Trust. The donation also includes computer terminals and other IT equipment.

The system will enable the Akshar Trust to track and manage student history more effectively. Replacing a labour-intensive manual system, the new software will allow staff to manage data on all children enrolled at the Trust plus accurately record student progress and achievement.

The Akshar Trust (established in 1988) is a voluntary organization to help hearing impaired children and enable them to have a meaningful life in society. This is the only school in Gujarat to offer three mediums of instruction, Gujarati, Hindi and English. The Trust provides it's students with hearing aids, uniforms and notebooks. Without the Trust, these children would never learn to communicate, orally or in writing, they would never receive an education or hope to get a job. In addition, they often become isolated from society and their families.

The Trust’s core objective is to provide education, care and guidance for it's students. Starting out with five children the Trust now has over 154 students enrolled, and many of it's students have gone on to take graduate and post graduate studies from the MS University of Vadodara.

The Trust not only helps children but also has a teacher training programme to develop teachers with the necessary specialised teaching skills needed to teach hearing impaired children.

Recently the Trust received Accreditation from the Rehabilitation Council of India for ‘Very Good Performance’.
